Thinking about 'The Brand'

When you think of a brand whether it's solely a make-up brand or apart of a bigger family with a fashion house, what aspects of that brand makes it distinct and one of a kind? That's the question I've been asking myself when it comes to a few of my favourites such as Givenchy, Tom Ford and Nars. Each brand has it's own unique identity and set the bar high every season with new collections and make-up looks that grace runways and set them apart from all the others.
I've recently been looking at Givenchy and the latest collections shown at their Spring/Summer 2016 catwalk shows and also their ready to wear collections, the make-up for the catwalk shows is really what caught my eye sparked interest in me. Pat Mcgrath and Ricardo Tisci worked together to create a really beautiful representation of Givenchy's new Spring/Summer '16 makeup collection using lace, jewels and pearls to create an impression of light on the face.

For the last 3 seasons Givenchy have continued to produce stunning abstract looks and seem to always like to utilise the use of adornments on the face.

In all of these looks adornments have been used to invoke a feeling related to the latest collection and I love how you can make the connections from the model's makeup to the piece that they are wearing and also the upcoming makeup collection Givenchy are releasing. 

Pat Mcgrath has been a trusted make-up artist of Ricardo Tisci for seasons now and seems that a reoccurring trend for his shows is the focus on adornments on the face especially for his Spring ready to wear collection. Their new spring summer collection features pastel shades, illuminating powders, lip scrubs and balms to keep the lips nice and plump this upcoming summer it seems! It also features pinks and oranges in the form of a blusher pallet quad, pastel blue and yellow eyeshadows and of course a new mascara and liner. 

I think it'll be fun looking at trends for this year and incorporate Givenchy's catwalk style and take on makeup.
